Ken was first licensed in the summer of 1972 as WN0MZD. The Novice exam was
administered by K0DEW. Later that year Ken upgraded his license and received
WB0MZD as his callsign.
Ken's brother and father are Amateurs; his brother, Ron K4SX, and his father,
Dean K0LDL.
Ken is a registered Electrical Engineer. Ken received his BS in electrical
engineering from Washington University in St.Louis. In addition, Ken has
multi-state certification as a registered Professional Engineer (PE). Ken is
currently employed with AT&T in St.Louis as a Tecom and voice engineer. Ken's
position is a senior technical architect for Network Services and is a the
telcom competency leader for the Americas. Ken's engineering positions have
included Monsanto and IBM. In addition, Ken is a certified Project Management
Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute.
Ken's wife, Lynn, is a PHD currently working in the educational system in
St.Louis County, Mo.
Ken's son, Adam, is a college student having completed his Master's Degree.
Adam has interests in sports, music and ham radio.
Ken's station consists of a FT-1000 MKV, IC-706Mk2G, and Fritzel FD4 OCF
Dipole. Ken's main interest in amateur radio is operating CW on 40 and 20
meters and also enjoys operating HF mobile.
Ken is a licensed pilot and owns a twin prop airplane and enjoys flying. Other
intersts are hunting and boating.
